I remembered how we had talked about solar panels, but we had very little sun coming through the trees. Solar panels would never help us, and I was sure ductless HVAC was going to be the same. I was pretty sure we would need to have alternate heating, so why waste money? My husband had also read that a person could install a ductless HVAC on their own. That’s when I knew he was just concerned about the money. I called the HVAC company and asked for a consultation. When the HVAC contractor arrived, he told us I was right about the traditional ductless HVAC. They have new ductless HVAC that works during much lower temperatures, but it was more expensive, and should really be installed by a professional. There are a lot of things that can go wrong during the installation, and if not done by a professional, the warranty is null and voided even before you use the HVAC system. Within half an hour, we were choosing the style of furnace we wanted, and being schooled on why a higher SEER is needed for the air conditioning unit.
