Who knew that changing the temperature by a few degrees could cause huge fights? I lived temporarily at my grandfather’s house while my house was being rebuilt from a fire.
He has a smart thermostat, and can control the temperature via phone. The only problem is, my grandfather is very stingy when it comes to temperature, and keeps the house at over 80 degrees. You would think it was in the middle of summer if you ever stepped foot in his house. I told him that he should turn the temperature down, and he looked at me appalled, as if I just smacked him in the face. I decided to not bring up changing the temperature after that. After many sleepless nights due to the heat, I eventually got up and managed to unlock his phone. He really needed to work on his password security skills as his password was 1111. I turned the furnace temperature down by a few degrees and went back to bed. As if he could sense a change in the air, an alarm must have gone off in his head and within 15 minutes he was up and out of his bed, changing the temperature. We kind of went back and forth for a month, I would lower the temperature a few degrees and he would raise it back up. Eventually he was smart enough to change his password, but I still was able to figure it out, it was 2222. Eventually he brought up the fact that the temperature kept changing and looked at me accusingly, and that’s when the continuous fights broke out.
