That’s when my heat pump quit working. Without a job, there was no way I was going to call the HVAC company and have them come out and service the heat pump. I decided to go online and try to get the schematics for my heat pump. With the schematics, I was positive that I should be able to service the heat pump on my own. It took awhile to find my unit and to get a full set of schematics along with the directions for what to do with the problem I was having. I wasn’t getting any heating and the heat pump didn’t seem to be turning on. I wrote down every symptom that I had seen and heard. I wanted to make sure I had all the information before I began trying to service the heat pump. I was absolutely worried about the job I had in front of me. It was even more daunting after going online to get the information. I called the HVAC company and when they told me the charges just for the repair call; I made my decision. Now I was beginning to doubt myself. Then I stumbled on 1 small piece of information. There was a small note at the bottom of the page. It said that before calling the HVAC company or attempting any self diagnostics, the homeowner should first check the control unit to make sure the batteries were in superb condition. Ten minutes later, the heat pump was once again running and my beach house was warm.
