Last month, my old thermostat finally died on me. I have had the same thermostat ever since I moved into this house, and I am pretty sure that it was the original thermostat put in the place whenever it was built. That means that it’s pretty darn old. I felt like if it wasn’t broken, I shouldn’t fix it. I mean, why spend money on a new thermostat when that one was working just fine? I like saving money, and so even though the thermostat unit was really ugly and it didn’t fit in with my decor, I just left it alone. However, last month, I noticed that the heating wasn’t coming on and going off the way that it was supposed to. The temperature in the house kept fluctuating up and down and I knew that something was wrong with some part of my HVAC system. I just wasn’t sure which part! So I called my local HVAC company and made an appointment for them to come and diagnose the problem with my heating. It turns out that there wasn’t really a problem with my heating system at all. It was the old thermostat that was finally going bad after all of these years! I was a little bit relieved for two reasons. First of all, I didn’t have to pay a fortune for a new furnace or a major furnace repair. Second, I was going to be able to get rid of that ugly old thermostat unit! Now, I have a new smart thermostat unit with a sleek design that blends in with my home decor. I am loving it. I kind of wish my old thermostat had torn up a long time ago!
