Nelly was always complaining about something.
She and I worked together for many years, and there was always something in her life worth complaining about.
Her husband was so nice to her and she was never satisfied. One year for Christmas, he surprised her with a brand new car and she complained that is was the wrong color! I told myself I would never act like that. Nelly came from a family who had a lot of money. She usually got whatever she wanted and rarely had to work for it. One Summer, the A/C unit in her condo went out. During this time, she was more unpleasant than usual. Her husband decided to buy her a new A/C system and have it installed while she was at work. Her husband had the HVAC company come out and had a team of HVAC technicians quickly install the new unit. When Nelly returned home from work, she did not even say thank you although there was a noticeable difference in the temperature inside the condo. Nelly went about her evening as nothing had happened. That was the day her husband decided that he was going to divorce her. He knew that there was someone out there who would appreciate his generous gifts and Nelly was not that person. Many of the people in our office know Nelly’s husband and were in on the surprise. When they asked her how she liked the new A/C unit in her condo, she simply said “it’s better than no A/C”.
