together we make a great team

I started out refinishing antique furniture as a small Hobby.

I would visit local antique shops, flea markets, garage sales plus large estate sales, looking for older pieces of furniture… Very often, these old, high quality pieces would sell reasonably due to age and disfigure.

I taught myself how to complete the many repairs. I acquired a great amount of information all about odd grades of sandpaper, staining techniques, varnishing plus durable upholstering. I figured out how to replace hinges plus knobs. I got genuinely superb at restoring all types of antique furniture that I found plus started reselling the pieces for a fantastic profit, plus I realized that I can make it a real business. Then, within a few years, I was contacted by a local custom furniture builder plus asked if I would perform a task. Instead of restoring older pieces, I now work dedicatedly on furniture that is created from scratch. I mainly handle the replacement of the upholstery. I love sitting down with buyers plus discussing their personal preferences plus expectations. There are so many important and critical decisions to make, then color is only one small component of the overall picture. There is a broad range of fabrics to choose from when your upholstering. While the custom built furniture isn’t cheap, it’s a superb investment for anybody to make. This furniture isn’t disposable but tends to last for several generations plus often become family heirlooms. Although the fabric that I use occasionally wears out, the frame of a custom built piece generally tends to hold up to demand. Both of us can totally swap the style plus appearance of a couch, chair or stool with a new fabric.
