I remember when we were little and my mom would take us to the mall. It seemed that whenever there was a problem with the air conditioning unit, she would take us to the mall while dad tried to fix the AC unit. Dad was the type of man who thought he should be able to fix anything and that included the HVAC system. He was really good with the furnace, but the air conditioning was new to him. After the third or fourth time of his trying to work on the AC unit, mom would start calling the HvAC company and have them send out an HVAC technician. I asked her one day why she always took us shopping when the aC unit broke. I thought she was going to say it was because it was cooler at the mall since they had industrial air conditioning. Instead, she told me that she didn’t want us home to hear our father cursing when he was trying to fix the air conditioning. I laughed, but those trips to the mall were instilled in me. The other week, we had a problem with our air conditioning. I grabbed my daughters and we headed to the mall. I made sure to call the HvAC company and my husband before we left. I just wanted them to have fun memories of bad times. I didn’t want them to think that just because something was wrong with the house, we couldn’t have a little fun. My husband laughed when I told him I was going to the mall and taking the girls. He said he would be right home to fix the air conditioning. I have it easier than my mom did because my HVAC company is my husband.
