Convincing my husband to follow a skin care routine

I’ve finally gotten my husband on board with following a skin care routine.

It took a while to convince him that only a few simple steps could make a big difference in his appearance and the feel of his skin.

My husband tends to have very dry skin and so we tried some samples and shopped for products to suit his needs. He was a bit uncooperative during the research process. He thought we’d just make a stop at the local drug store and grab a few things off the shelf. Since I knew I’d never get him into a salon, I wanted to make sure we purchased good quality, safe and effective cleansers, moisturizers and sunscreen. He was shocked and not happy by the cost of these items. I admit that the tubes are rather small for the price. I then needed to get him in the habit of washing his face after his workout as well at the end of the day. Shaving especially dries his skin out, so we found a facial cleaner that includes witch hazel to more gently handle excess oils. We avoided anything with isopropyl alcohol or sodium chloride, because those can actually cause drying. By thoroughly cleaning his face every night, my husband’s skin was prepared for the healing that occurs while he sleeps. I insisted that he include a nighttime moisturizer. I found one that contains hyaluronic acid and is specially formulated to be super hydrating and regeneration. He needs to apply it while the skin is damp. I explained to him that his face is exposed to air pollution and free radicals every day. This leads to damage which the moisturizer can repair.
