Corporate wellness program helps with depression.

Once I graduated college and started my job, I had trouble finding time to workout.

My job requires long hours and I spend them sitting in a desk chair, staring at a computer screen.

At the end of day, I’m exhausted and have no interest in any kind of physical activity. Because I was so sedentary and grabbing fast food for dinner on my way home, I gained quite a bit of weight. I also began to suffer from all sorts of aches and pains. Headaches, sore joints and pain in my back were everyday problems. My discomfort made it difficult to sleep at night. Since I felt exhausted at work, my productivity decreased. I was tired, overweight, in pain and not doing well at my job. All of those problems turned into depression. I finally spoke to the office manager. I was considering quitting my job because I definitely needed to make some changes in my life. The office manager told me that he’d been considering setting up a corporate wellness program and asked me to help him. I researched wellness programs, read up on the many benefits and got really interested. When I made the sign-up sheets available, the response from my fellow workers was overwhelming. We now have a personal trainer coming to the office every morning and offering group classes. Along with access to fitness sessions, our workforce has access to nutritional counselling. This has made a significant improvement in my quality of life. I’ve lost weight and gained strength and energy. I’m sleeping better and no longer deal with constant pain. I’m finally happy again.
