Former athlete working out with personal trainer

I am a former professional athlete.

  • For most of my life, physical training was my number one priority.

My level of performance was directly related to the strength, speed and coordination of my body. I maintained peak physical condition to be better at my job and avoid injury. Now that I’m retired, I no longer need to push myself so hard. However, it’s important to me to stay fit. Working with a personal trainer simplifies my workout program. I have a scheduled time and duration for the sessions that I organize my life around. There’s no temptation to skip the workout or cut it short. The personal trainer keeps me motivated and pushes me to work harder than I would on my own. He also mixes up the types of workouts to target all different muscles. Since I no longer need to concentrate on specific areas of strength training and speed, I’m more well-rounded in my fitness goals. I’ve lost some of my bulk but have gained greater flexibility. I like that I’m never quite sure what style of workout I’m going to get. Some days there’s a lot of running involved. Sometimes he’s got me going through obstacles, climbing a rockwall, swimming laps or tossing a weighted ball around. There’s always plenty of time dedicated to warming up, stretching and cooling down. At the end of every session, I feel fantastic. I’m able to pursue the hobbies I enjoy, like golf, kayaking and racquetball without injury or lacking endurance. I have plenty of energy and continue to feel strong, healthy and productive.
