I’ve been under some misconceptions when it comes to what the HVAC equipment is actually doing.
All along, and I’ve been talking since I was a kid inside the central air conditioning of my parents, I didn’t have the full story on HVAC.
To me, I was pretty much only interested in the thermostat so I had the sort of quality heating and air I wanted on demand. Even when I became a homeowner, the HVAC equipment was sort of an afterthought. This house was priced to sell and needed some work. Of course, my wife and I were up to it and did most of the stuff ourselves over the course of several years. The HVAC equipment that came with this house was nothing to write home about but it was still totally usable. When we bought the house, the HVAC unit was not even 10 years old. It was a decent enough model and we immediately signed up for the HVAC service plan. So getting the regular HVAC maintenance really did help extend the life of that residential HVAC. But when we came to the point where it was time to upgrade the heating and cooling comfort inside our home, I learned a lot. For the first time, I completely understood how important the HVAC equipment can be when it comes to our respiratory health. I always thought those cheap air filters I was using were helping to clean the air. But they did nothing but protect the HVAC equipment. So when we replaced the residential HVAC we had the HVAC company install a whole home air purification system as well. And now, our HVAC equipment is doing a great deal in order to provide the best indoor air quality we could ever want.
