I really hate going to the zoo when it’s hot outside. My kids never really seem to care all that much about the weather or the outside temperatures, though. For some reason, the extreme weather conditions never seemed to bother them as much as they do older people. In the summertime, when the weather starts heating up, they never even seem to notice how hot it’s getting most of the time. And that’s how it was whenever they asked me to take them to the zoo last week! On the day they begged me to take them downtown to the zoo, the temperature outside was supposed to be 92 degrees in the afternoon. I told them that it was going to be way too hot for us to be going to the zoo and traipsing around by the animal cages without any air conditioning. Of course, kids don’t care about air conditioning or hot weather, and they ended up wearing me down until I agreed to take them to the zoo. It was a huge mistake. By the time we got there, I was sweating like crazy even though I had the air conditioning in the car running full blast all the way there. We got out of the car and it was like standing inside of a furnace while we were there on the blacktop in the parking lot. What a long, hot afternoon that turned out to be. My favorite part of the whole day was when we went inside of the aquarium exhibit where they had the polar bears and the penguins. At least for these cold loving animals, they had the air conditioning on full blast and I could cool off a little bit.
