I never thought I should have to keep a job if I’m not satisfied doing that job.
A career is something you can enjoy and should be able to do it the rest of your life.
I was looking for a career and not just a job. I was changing jobs every couple months which had my family making fun of me, but I didn’t care. When I saw the advertisement for the new classes they were going to start at the local college, I was thrilled. They were starting to integrate trade school classes along with a regular college experience. If you didn’t want to start college, you could learn a trade. I wanted to learn HVAC and that was the first trade they were teaching. I didn’t know if I was going to enjoy doing HVAC work as a career, but I knew it would come in handy. I could always do repairs to my own furnace or air conditioning units, along with doing the work for my family and friends. Once I got accepted to the HVAC course, I found that it was kind of fun. I was learning how to install and repair furnaces, air conditioning units, and air quality equipment. I even learned about the air purifiers. After the classes were done, they also offered a class so the HVAC class could get their certification. I knew that I was going to go on and get my certification. I was enjoying learning about heating and air conditioning and I was sure it could be the career I had been searching for.
