I saved a little money doing minor HVAC maintenance tasks

I have to admit that sometimes, I do the HVAC maintenance on my own. For the most part, I know how to take care of the HVAC system tune-ups. It’s just a lot of work and a lot of cleaning out dirty components in the system. Don’t get me wrong, I still call up the HVAC professionals at least every other year to make sure I have no significant issues. Typically if I can see that I have an issue with worn parts, I prefer to have the HVAC professionals take care of jobs like that. When it comes to the easier stuff though, I don’t have an issue getting my hands a little bit dirty. I exercise all safety cautions as well such as wearing safety glasses and making sure the power is shut down. I even use a volt detector just to make certain there is no live power in the wires inside the HVAC equipment. I actually enjoy cleaning out the outdoor AC compressor especially. It’s not so difficult and it’s something that needs to be done every spring time. You should also know to keep your AC condenser covered in the winter so that it doesn’t become damaged from falling icicles and other debris. So when it comes to cleaning the condenser, shut the power off and open the cabinet. You want to pull out all the debris that has built up inside. Then you want to carefully spray the water towards the outside of the condenser so that all the dirt and debris is knocked off your condenser. When you see any fin coils that are bent, you should use a fin comb to straighten them up carefully. When you learn how to do simple maintenance tasks like this, you can save yourself a lot of money.
