When people think of HVAC machines, they usually think of what it can provide them, heating and cooling air.
However, when I think of HVAC technology, I always think of my father.
My father for 30 years, was a HVAC specialist. I remember as a child asking why he was a HVAC professional, and not something more interesting like being a superhero. He laughed and told me that he loved the simplicity of it. For the most part, his schedule didn’t change, the people were nice and he was good at his job. My father never wanted more than the simplicity that his HVAC profession offered him. As I grew older, I respected that more and more. My father always had a special HVAC equipment toolbag that he kept at his side. He was never without that bag, and valued it very much. So when he told me he had forgotten where he had put it, I felt bad for him. My father passed away not long after that, and so I sorted through all of our old pictures stored away in the garage. As I put the precious pictures away and got up, I accidentally hit something. Looking down, I recognized my father’s old HVAC tool bag, and that’s when I remembered. Last time my father was at my place, he was checking on my A/C unit and making sure everything was in working order. I guess he had forgotten to take the bag with him. I held that bag so tight, and even today, it is kept in the garage right next to the A/C machine, my father’s favorite place.
