My kids had accidentally blocked the floor vents

Thankfully the problem was quickly and easily rectified when I moved the toys & put them back in the bins where they belong

It took just a few days to slowly transition an old storage room into a playroom for our kids. I had to do some repairs to the floorboards after removing the old carpet. Before painting the walls & ceiling, the two of us had to get a more modern window unit installed as well. By the time I was finished, the room had completely evolved & looked unrecognizable. I even hung images of their favorite cartoon characters on the walls, too. One of the cooler finishing touches was the dimmed LED lighting that ran along the baseboards as a nightlight. My kids were ecstatic when they laid eyes on the finished playroom & took no time at all filling it to the brim with their toys. I’m so stoked that they love the play room, but yesterday something unexpected happened. I went into their playroom at 8am & noticed that the air inside felt a lot colder than the rest of the home. Even though it’s December this is odd & unusual behavior. I walked to the kitchen & looked at the thermostat but everything appeared to be working as it should. That’s when I looked at the floor vents in the playroom. The ductwork for our central furnace is inside the floor & the air vents are along the baseboards. Just love I had feared, our kids had inadvertently created a small pile of toys in front of the floor vents in the playroom, blocking all of the hot air from getting into the playroom. That’s why it felt so frosty inside when I opened the door. Thankfully the problem was quickly and easily rectified when I moved the toys & put them back in the bins where they belong. There wasn’t any damage to our furnace either, which made me relieved.
