I bought this house knowing that I’d have to put a lot of work into it. The structure of the house was great and it showed a lot of promise, but the aesthetics of it was lacking. The carpet was old, the wallpaper was peeling off the wall, the cabinets in the kitchen were dingy. Along with these things, the windows needed replacing because they were single paned and not sealed properly. I didn’t think the outdated windows would be an issue, but they’ve actually created a lot of issues. During the cooler months, a lot of my heat has slipped through the cracks of the windows and the lack of insulation doesn’t help. My living room has large windows, so the heat escapes rather quickly and the room can become cold really quickly. I didn’t have the funds to update the windows at the time, so I decided to try something else. I had always heard great things about ductless mini split systems and I wanted to give it a try. They were supposed to heat and cool designated spaces up to a certain square footage and they ran off of electricity. This made them ideal for heating and cooling spaces in one area without affecting the rest of the heat and air in the rest of the house. Having installed the ductless mini split system, I’ve really enjoyed it and it’s solved my heat issue for the time being. I’m able to heat my living room whenever I’m using the space without wasting energy.
