I stayed in a dorm room while I was in my first numerous years of school! It wasn’t my first choice, however it was surprisingly much more affordable compared to the brand new apartments surrounding the campus in the city.
I enjoyed living in the dorms because it was self-explanatory to get involved on campus.
I got a job at the library, so it was self-explanatory to walk over there numerous minutes before my shift. I even got along with my 2 other roommates well! The most hard aspect of living in the dorm had to be the low quality air conditioning… The prices of the dorm were great, however at what expense if I had to live in a dutch oven half of the time? The housing department regularly sent out email stating that they would have heating plus air conditioning workers coming in to check our AC units, however it actually didn’t help. I think the entire heating plus air conditioning idea was old, plus the school was too cheap to replace it… Some say that if they increased the price of the dorm rooms to pay for new air conditioning units, all the people wouldn’t be able to afford it, but man would I kill for some cold air while I was in the summertime weeks! Both of us always kept a dehumidifier running because the air conditioning device had bad zone control, so there were numerous spots in the bedrooms that were sizzling plus muggy. Fortunately, my bed was in a cold spot, however it actually didn’t help that much… Even though the cost of the dorm would have been a bit higher, I know having higher quality air in a room where numerous people resided would have led to a better dorm experience, plus not to mention a healthier one too.
