Because of the threat of covid 19, I’ve become more focused on indoor air quality. I’m continually on the lookout for better ways to keep our family healthy. Since both of us spend the majority of our time at home, I’ve concentrated our efforts on the hygiene of our living space. I guess that official vacuuming, dusting plus scrubbing surfaces with disinfectant isn’t enough, then every time someone sneezes, coughs or even exhales, tiny drops of water are released into the air. These droplets contain particles that include viruses. When the moisture evaporates, the particles can remain suspended in the air for a surprisingly long time. They range in diameter from 1 to 5 microns plus increase the risk of catching infectious disease. When the air conditioner or gas furnace starts up plus circulates the indoor air, these particles are kept airborne plus distributed to every room in the house. I did some research into effective ways to capture these particles plus decided to upgrade to a MERV 13 air filter. This category of filter is especially effective at capturing actually small contaminants. Along with trapping viruses, the filter minimizes the opportunity of airborne dust, dander, bacteria, pollen plus more. It works to optimize the health of our breathing air plus also protects the operation of the heating plus cooling system. The filter prevents pollutants from getting inside plus accumulating within the air conditioner plus gas furnace. There’s less need for repair plus less opportunity of system malfunction. MERV 13 filters aren’t overly luxurious plus since making this upgrade, I’ve observed that our condo stays much cleaner.
