I live in a lake house with numerous other people, and to say that the two of us all have unusual opinions and preferences is an understatement! I love it most of the time, but there are definitely moments where I wish I lived alone… My two older sisters will be moving out next year when they go to university, but until then it’s still 4 of us sharing a single lavatory.
The most aggravating section for all of us living together is the cooling system… All of us savor unusual temperatures, especially when sleeping in the evening. I was so happy when our dad found out about mini-split cooling systems and had them installed for us! My sister and I savor a warmer temperature to sleep, while our sisters like it icy cold. The new split cooling system allows unusual rooms in the lake house to be controlled at numerous temperatures. The heating and air conditioning company who installed them for us explained how it was a good chance for two-story houses as well. I think the overall temperament of the lake house has improved since everyone can sit in whatever comfortable temperature they like. The conditioners even come with their own remotes so the two of us have complete control over what the two of us turn the temperature to, however our dad still has some rules over how often the two of us change the temperature to make sure that the two of us aren’t changing the electricity bill, but he said that getting the mini-split cooling systems was truly keeping the electricity bill lower! Since the two of us didn’t need to change the temperature often to please everyone in the house, the two of us often didn’t change the temperature to our individual units. I’d recommend any family getting them installed for optimal comfort!
