When he quoted the price, I thought I was going to fall off my chair. My fiance was so stunned, he couldn’t speak. He just sat there staring at the HVAC worker. He asked what was wrong with the metal ductwork. The HVAC worker took him downstairs to show him where the ductwork was rusted. Many of the spots were pressing enough he could put two fingers in the hole in the ductwork. He told us it would be cheaper to get the air conditioning unit now, instead of waiting until next year. They could give us a better deal by bundling the entire HVAC system instead of buying it in pieces. That made me wonder if he wasn’t trying to get a bigger sale from us. Maybe he got a new commission from the HVAC company? I asked him if that was the case, and he said no. He was only trying to save us some money. He then told us they had flex pipe ductwork that was cheaper and it didn’t take up as much space. There were no metal corners to bump your head on. My fiance finally thanked him for the information, but said he wanted to get a second opinion before spending that much money. My associate and I talked about the new HVAC system for almost a week before the second HVAC company offered us their opinion. He simply concurred with everything the original HVAC company said.
