Airflow is nearly nonexistent.

I walked into the house after a long day at work and realized my air conditioning wasn’t working properly.

I could hear it running, but there was very little air coming from the air vent.

I called the HVAC company and told them I had an airflow problem, or at least the lack of airflow. They offered to have someone at the house by the end of the day. I remembered my brother talking about how he had a problem with airflow. The HVAC technician had told him it was a fan motor not working properly. Once they replaced the fan motor, he had excellent airflow. I also remembered that he had a lack of airflow another time, and it was because of a clogged air filter. My brother was always complaining about airflow, but I knew how to check my air filter, and I was sure I could open the AC unit to see if the fan was working. When I determined it wasn’t the fan motor or a clogged air filter, I called the HVAC company and told them what I had found. The operator thanked me and said she would pass it along to the HVAC technician. The first thing he looked at wasn’t the fan or the air filter, but my ductwork. He said that if there is an excess of debris in the ductwork, it can inhibit airflow. He called the HVAC ductwork cleaning crew. I couldn’t remember how long it had been since my husband and I had the ductwork cleaned. When I realized we had lived here for almost ten years and had never had the ductwork cleaned, it devastated me.
