My family and I have lived down South all of my life. I love everything about it! The beach, the margaritas, and the sand. It’s like being on vacation every single day. One thing about being down here is the heat! It gets pretty hot throughout the summertime, so our air conditioning bill is typically pretty high for a few months. Our bill was unusually high last summer when we overworked our air conditioner during a big heat wave. We had an air conditioning company come out and check if there was something going on with our HVAC unit. Turns out our air conditioning system had really poor zoning control. This caused us to overwork the air conditioner to try and push cool air into rooms that weren’t getting enough. After the summer, we made some upgrades to the air conditioner and fixed the zone control. This summer we noticed a big difference when we were hit with a few heat waves and increased our air conditioner usage. The zone control worked wonders, and we were able to feel the air and stay cool in every single room. Every home down South should ensure they have proper zone control so that they don’t pay more than what they should. If someone’s house was built decades ago, they probably need to make major updates to their house anyway.
