I thought the wooden chairs were just plain ugly.

The only kind of wood chairs I ever used were those straight-back kind, which are so difficult on your legs, they ended up with wobbly legs that had to be glued.

My father said I was still too young to enjoy using real furniture, but he also hated the chairs.

After getting married, mom offered myself and others his old kitchen set. I loved the old wood dining and kitchen set, but I knew I couldn’t use those chairs without some major variations being made. I took the chairs to the local upholstery shop plus asked if they could add new upholstery to the seats. I was surprised when he said he could take the wood chairs to someone that he knew. They could shore up the legs plus make them stronger than when new. It myself and others gleeful when he said how easy it would be to add upholstery to the seats. With a fresh coat of paint, some upholstered seats, plus new legs that held up to a little bit of weight, they would be love brand new chairs. It was going to take almost three weeks before I got my chairs back, so my hubby plus I obtained some folding chairs to help us through that time. That was almost multiple years ago, plus those wood chairs continue to look brand new. The upholstery is starting to fray around the edge plus I’ll soon need to take them back to the shop plus have them reupholstered. Our young boys have spilled juice, finger paint, plus food on those chairs, but I don’t care. My folks still can’t think how a little reupholstering changed plain plus ugly chairs into amazing wood chairs that will be cherished for years to come.
