There was time I lived right downtown.
This was when I was young. I wanted to be near everything downtown, the flipside of course was that the place was tiny! It was basically a closet, but smaller. I got used to it because that after all that wasn’t why I was there, I was there for location. Now of course the weather here can occasionally be all over the place. Now, you would have thought that because my little unit was so small, with small windows plus low ceilings plus small rooms, that when I would need to heat or cool the place, it would happen in way less than an hour, and that was true! In the summer I would turn on the air conditioner, or in the Winter I would turn on the heater, and within minutes I’d be perfectly snug in my furnace or chilled out in my cool pad! But, as I found out, that really has drawbacks too. The thing was, the Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C component in that building was not a perfect match for all the sizes of units plus heat or cold traps that invariably parts of a building are going to have. In the case of my own unit, it would heat up so fast that it would then turn itself off before the furnace had any opportunity to add moisture back into the air, and so my place would be super dry in the winter as a result. So, as a solution I got my own small area furnace plus a dehumidifier. By doing this I soon had the perfect maintenance for when it wasn’t too cold, however meanwhile when it did get really cold I would just blast the central heating, so this way I had the best of both worlds.
