Making a building for the A/C unit

A few months ago, there was a very large storm in the region.

  • It was much larger than any storm I have seen in 20 years.

The storm brought several inches of rain, hail, and a lot of destruction. There was severely heavy winds that cause tree damage all over the neighborhood. One of those tree branches landed right on top of my window AC unit. It hit the AC unit with such force that it ripped the equipment right from the window. We had a lot of damage from the AC unit. We had to replace the window ledge, drywall, and our AC equipment. The homeowners insurance would not cover some of the repairs. They blamed us for not securing the item tightly. We were out almost $2500 in damages. We didn’t want the same thing to happen ever again, so we decided to build a small shed around the AC unit. It actually looks quite nice, and it is very versatile. I have some planters on top of the box and it looks like a functional piece of outdoor furniture. We made the box look like part of our home so it blends in with the rest of the place. The best part about the building is the fact that the AC unit is hidden away from any danger. We don’t have to worry about any sticks, twigs, or large tree branches. We also have the machine shielded from the sun and its harsh and harmful rays. I think that will help increase the lifetime of the equipment. If nothing else, I know that we won’t have to deal with the same disaster again.
