Mark wasn’t the best HVAC tech, but he sure tried.

When I realized how good he was at doing HVAC inspections and servicing, I knew I could put my better HVAC technicians on the harder jobs

My nephew Mark wasn’t the best HVAC technician in our company, but he sure tried. Most of his duties were to do the servicing on furnaces and air conditioning units. I remembered when my sister called and told me Mark wanted to be an HVAC technician. He always had a difficult time in school, and he couldn’t maintain what he learned. Everything was repetition, or he would forget. When he passed the HVAC certification, I was surprised. I soon learned that he had someone tutoring him, and he took his tests with only the instructor and his tutor in the room. Maybe that is why he can do inspections with no problem. No one is bothering him and he doesn’t need to worry about making mistakes. Every job is a repetition of the last. When my sister first asked if I would offer Mark a job if he passed his certification test; I was hesitant. I knew how my nephew was, but if he passed the certification test, I could just throw him into a position of apprentice. If he didn’t work out, I could tell my sister that he tried. When I realized how good he was at doing HVAC inspections and servicing, I knew I could put my better HVAC technicians on the harder jobs. Mark has become an asset to my HVAC company. My sister is thrilled to know that Mark has found a position in life that he loves, and I have the best HVAC service tech in the area. It became a winning situation for everyone.
