I am not sure why, but for some reason my mom thinks that I am addicted to my work.
Back when I was in high school I started a small HVAC repair business and for the past ten years I have been expanding my company and bringing in others to work for me.
I enjoy what I do and I am passionate when it comes to being the best HVACt tech that I can be, however I would most definitely not describe myself as a work addict, not by a long shot. With that being said, the other week while I was back at home visiting my parents I ended up getting a call from one of my customers telling me that one of my guys was supposed to be out to their house to fix their air conditioning unit however they never showed up. In the hopes of keeping this client and avoiding having them leave us a one star review I told them that I would be out there within the hour to service their air conditioning unit. When I told my parents that I wouldn’t be able to stay around for much longer they told me that they couldn’t believe I would already be leaving and that they were very cross with me. I couldn’t believe them as my parents have both started their own businesses and should have understood the conflict that I was in. I still ended up leaving to go do my job, and now my parents and I are on bad terms. It sure isn’t easy being the owner of an HVAC company.
