Power outage causing HVAC issues

Once the dust has settled from this storm, I am going to call a local HVAC company to see what they can offer me for a backup heating system

I live in a southern climate that has hot and humid weather almost all year round. I haven’t experienced a real winter season in a really long time because we just don’t get cold weather. I am not complaining because I really love the warm weather and the fact that I can go to the beach when most people are walking through snow. However, last month we had a really crazy winter storm that left everyone without power for over two weeks. It was the craziest cold weather we have ever had and there were even snow flurries in some areas of town. During the storm it caused a giant power outage that caused everyone’s HVAC systems to stop working. Many people I know don’t even have a tradition heating system because it never gets cold enough for us to use a heating system. I am one of the few people in my area that do have a heating system so I was excited to actually get to use it. However, I wasn’t even able to use it because of the power outage. I think I need to find a backup heating system so in the rare case that this kind of winter weather happens again, I want to be prepared. Once the dust has settled from this storm, I am going to call a local HVAC company to see what they can offer me for a backup heating system. I hope that there is an option that won’t cost me an arm and a leg.
