One thing I did not know is that in the southwest schools actually close for heat just like back in normal places how they close for snow storms.
I found this out while living here recently. I do not have any kids, so I had to find this out from someone I know at my job who does. The schools close when it is too hot. This is because a lot do not have the funding to afford the best commercial air conditioning systems that are needed to combat that kind of heat. In our homes it is different because we are only needing powerful residential air conditioning systems. But when you are talking about commercial buildings like schools you need a really powerful commercial heating and air conditioning system in order to even fight off the heat. And the schools do not have this. They just have standard heating and air conditioning which isn’t enough when it gets this hot. I sort of feel for them. Because this means that they have to sometimes go to school longer to make up for the lost time. All because of lack of air conditioning! That concept alone is crazy where I come from. I guess I should be thankful that I grew up in a different sort of climate to where the heating and air conditioning in our schools was good enough to heat and cool the schools. Heating and air conditioning is very important no matter where you are. But here in the southwest air conditioning is more important than anything. Without it, people could not survive.
