I decided to spend the holidays with our immediate family this year.
Since I live 10 hours away, I purchased a plane ticket and flew to our sibling’s home because she was within driving distance of all our other family members.
This was the first time I’d visited our sibling in her condo before, so I didn’t assume what to expect. When I arrived, she showed myself and others the guest room and made sure that I had everything I needed. When I saw an strange box above the bed, I questioned her about it. She told myself and others that it was a ductless mini split plan and that it was used to heat and cool the family room. I’d never heard of a ductless mini split plan before, so I advised that our sibling show myself and others how to use it. She pointed to the small remote and showed myself and others all the buttons and how they flipped between heat and air and how the temperature could be changed. When she was finished, I asked her why there was a ductless mini split plan instead of central heat and air. According to her, the home didn’t have any central heat or air because the temperature was always modest throughout the year. The ductless mini split plan ran off of electricity and it was the most efficient way to heat and cool the entire house. There were multiple other ductless mini split units throughout the home and I was pleasantly surprised by how effective they were!
