Right out of school, I went directly to a career center.
I wanted to have an auto shop career for myself, even though I didn’t want to learn everything while I was working.
I wanted to go out and get certified in window tint installation, plus painting. I had taken classes on customization plus restoration, which gave myself and others a taste of real auto shop work. I loved taking those classes, plus I wanted to go even further. There really wasn’t anything I could picture myself doing, other than auto shop work, for the rest of my time on earth. I spent the next year at the local community school, taking classes that would help push myself and others in my auto shop career. I learned more about brakes, exhaust systems, plus how to perfectly restore cars that have been in accidents. I even earned many certifications which definitely would give myself and others an up when I put in my applications. When I was wrapped with classes, my instructor pulled myself and others aside. He wanted to understand if I already had a job in any business? I told him I was learning so that I could get an unbelievable job plus not be treated the same as an apprentice. He smiled plus asked if I had any system which shop I was interested in? I shook my head… By the time I walked out of the classroom, he gave myself and others the name of one of the most prestigious auto shops in the area. You know I walked out of that class feeling as if someone had handed myself and others a million dollars.
