Winter was coming quickly and my husband and I were beginning to have some concerns about our heating system.
We had been having a lot of problems for the last couple of years and last year the furnace quit working. We did all we could to revive the furnace, but it wasn’t working. We ended up turning on the fireplace and using space heaters to keep the house warm. We knew it was going to cost us a lot of money to have the furnace replaced in the dead of winter. We also wanted to make sure we had enough money to give our kids a good Christmas. Our daughter had asked Santa for a doll house. The dollhouse was easy enough, but she wanted real curtains that were pink, and she wanted a pink shag carpet. She also wanted special furniture for the house. Our sons both had specific gaming systems on their list. We knew we couldn’t honor their Santa list and buy a new furnace at the same time. When they opened their gifts on Christmas day, we knew that we had made the right choice to wait until summer to purchase a new furnace. Now that winter will be here again in a couple of months, we are looking all over for sales on last years models. We have decided to go to the local home supply center first. They usually have good sales on leftover furnace models and if they have nothing, we’ll all the HVAC company. They should also be able to get us a cheaper furnace than what we would have bought had we had the furnace replaced six months ago.
