Upgrading to zone control

We save a great deal on energy bills and lessen wear and tear on the furnace and air conditioner

My house is approximately three thousand square feet and divided up into quite a few rooms. We’ve done a significant amount of remodeling over the years, removing walls, adding windows and reconfiguring the floor plan. At one time, temperature control for the entire house was managed by a single thermostat. We needed to walk to the living room and manually make an adjustment. The living room was always the ideal temperature. There were other areas that consistently felt chilly or overheated. There were plenty of empty rooms getting heated and cooled. Plus, our remodeling resulted in certain rooms with insufficient vents to handle demand. The cost of our monthly energy bills was astronomical. We finally made the upgrade to zone control. Although it was a big project and rather expensive, the improvement is definitely worth the investment. There are now independent thermostats located in each room. Because they are smart thermostats, we are able to control them through an app on our smartphones. If we are at work, away on vacation, tucked in bed or sitting on the couch, it’s easy to make changes to settings. Each family member has the ability to customize the temperature in their bedroom to their preference. We can target those areas that are more difficult to heat and cool. We save a great deal on energy bills and lessen wear and tear on the furnace and air conditioner. Since we live in an area with freezing cold winters and hot and humid summers, I hope that making the upgrade to zone control will result in greater reliability from the heating and cooling equipment.
