When I started looking for a new house, I wanted something that was unique. Other than being in a nice part of town, I didn’t know what I was looking for but I knew that when I saw it, I would know. I looked at several different houses during my search. They all had something they loved, but they didn’t really leap out at me to buy it. When I walked into this one house, I had an inkling that this was going to be home. It had a garage that faced the street and the privacy was perfect. Then I went into the basement and I fell in love with the old furnace that was in the basement. It was one of those that could be fueled with coal or wood. I couldn’t believe that it was also below market price for the house and location. I bought the house and I couldn’t wait to move in. Shortly after moving into the house, I had a problem with the old furnace. I found out why the house was so cheap. The cost to repair the furnace was outrageous. Every part was a specialty item and it had to be ordered. There were some parts that had to be manufactured, if that was even possible. No one had parts for the furnace in stock. I hated putting out that cost for the old furnace, but the furnace was the selling point of the house. I’m thinking that it may be a lot cheaper for me to just bite the bullet and purchase a newer furnace for my home.
