Who doesn’t like free stuff?

When I had my new AC unit installed, they gave me a new programmable thermostat for free.

Considering the fact that I had paid well over $6000 for my new AC unit, I thought it was only fair that they threw in a new programmable thermostat.

When I bought my last AC unit, it cost me less than $5000. I understood the nature of inflation and that AC had improved over the years, but I still thought it was a bit pricey. I was hoping to be able take a two-week cruise to the Caribbean islands this year, but that went out the window when we found out that we needed a new air conditioning unit. So, this week my new thermostat had a notification come up that it was time to change the air filter. I assume that it is pre-programmed to give a thirty day notice that the air filter needs to be changed. I liked this feature because I used to forget that it was time to change the air filter. I was kind of wishing they had thrown in a couple of air filters when they installed the AC unit. That would have been a nice freebie, along with the thermostat. I am going to need to start saving money again so that we can make plans to take our cruise sometime in the future. I know that the new air conditioning unit is going to save us a lot of money on our energy bills. The old AC unit was really old and I knew it was no longer efficient. Maybe, with the added efficiency, we’ll be able to save for our cruise and it will take a lot less than three years it took us to save the first time.
