This year for his anniversary, we surprised our dad with a new a/c system for his house. My dad is one of those guys who will make do with whatever he has. He never likes to spend any extra money and we all joke about the fact that he genuinely has thousands of dollars hidden in his mattress. He is just one of those old university types of guys! Whenever we were growing up in something tore up, he would say something about how we would just have to go along to get along. My sisters and I never absolutely understood that saying, but our dad always had a lot of odd things that he would say that did not make any sense to us, however anyway, this year, our dad has been having a lot of complications with his central a/c and he mentioned that it was genuinely time for him to upgrade it, but he did not want to spend the money. Whenever he said that, my brothers and I all looked at each other with knowing looks. As soon as he mentioned it, we knew that that was what we were going to get him for his anniversary this year. This year, he is going to be 72 years old, and we figured that he should absolutely get whatever he wants for his anniversary. Three brothers and I are all going to go in on the new central a/c and split it three ways. I know that my dad is going to be absolutely glad when he realizes that we are getting him a brand new high efficiency a/c for his anniversary.
