My partner & I went to a dwelling to install a new a/c unit.
It had been delivered two nights ago, but my good friend and I had to take the old a/c out of the house.
When my good friend and I got there, the owner of the dwelling was hugging the a/c equipment & promising he would not let us take it away. I thought he was just being emotional, but something was off with the way he was acting. She kissed the a/c equipment & put a ring on top of it. She said he made a promise to adore him forever & he would never forget him. I looked at my work partner & wondered if he was hearing what I was hearing. She told the a/c he loved it again & said the smartest thing he had ever done was to marry him. I looked at my partner & I wondered if I had the same look on my face that he wore. I mouthed, ‘Did he say he married his a/c unit?’ & he whispered yes. I knew there were a lot of unusual people in the world, but this was the oddest thing I had ever seen. Who marries an a/c unit. I had heard that someone tried to marry the Empire State Building, however I thought it was a joke. Maybe it wasn’t so far-fetched after all. When my good friend and I installed the new a/c, I asked what he wanted to do with the old one. She told us he had a burial plot already prepared, & asked if my good friend and I would come with his to the funeral.
