Difficult tenant forces me to file a complaint for lack of proper heating system

I have been a tenant at my current residence for two years now, but not once have I seen a technician sent over by the landlord to perform heating maintenance or heating repair.

All this time I have been here, I have personally paid for any heating tune up I needed but now I have had it.

The landlord only reaches out to me whenever he needs money but when I bring up the issue of getting a heating contractor to come to fix the heating system, he brushes it off. It wasn’t until recently that I learned of a way I can get him to fulfill his purpose. Once I realized I could file a complaint, I used that as a tactic to get his attention to contact a heating dealership or a heating business. He wasn’t shocked because he was aware of the law so threatening to go the legal way got him to finally provide me with quality heating and air but it also took a while because he had to shop for some space heater for sale and buy some new heating units. I was impressed by his knowledge of the heating industry and the effort he put in eventually to buy and involve a heating contractor to install the new equipment. With improved efficiency, I wouldn’t have to worry about paying so much energy bills to the heating provider especially because the landlord chose the latest heating technology that is energy efficient. But little did I know he was going to increase my rent the following month! I didn’t stay long, moved out eventually.
