I may need to buy a new HVAC system soon but first I am going to have the rep come by to take a look at my HVAC equipment to see if it can be serviced.
- It is pretty old so I am not holding my breath and am expecting him to tell me it is going to need to be replaced soon.
I don’t know how much a new cooling and heating system will cost but the landlord is ultimately going to have to foot the bill. This is why I rent now instead of owning a home, because of all of the costs associated with ownership such as maintenance, tax, and insurance. So when a heat pump breaks, or a smart thermostat stops being so smart, I just call the owner and he takes care of the cost of it all. It also makes it easier to move if you don’t own a home, so now I don’t feel tied down to living in one place if I feel like moving somewhere else. I asked the owner if I could get a mini split air conditioner in my office because it gets really hot in there from the sun shining through the window. He said no problem so I went out and bought one the following day and now am much more comfortable while I am working. I think the cooling rep is going to bring an HVAC specialist with him today to look at my system so I should know later what the fate of my HVAC unit is.
