I am in a tough spot with my roommate right now.
We have lived together for about three years now and everything has been going great so far. However, lately there is one thing that she keeps doing that I can’t look past and I don’t know how to bring it up to her because I don’t want to hurt her feelings. She is one of the most sensitive people that I know. Lately at night she has been turning up the air conditioner to about 80 degrees, this would be fine in the middle of winter but right now it is the summertime. I wake up in the morning when she sets the air conditioner that high covered in sweat. I don’t know how to approach the situation but I feel like she might as well be turning on the furnace. I can’t figure out why she is doing this either, I know she must be getting hot too. I try and wait until she falls asleep and then I can go turn the air conditioner back down to 75 degrees, which I feel is a very reasonable temperature. I decided that I have to talk to her about it today, I am just going to suggest that we have a smart thermostat installed so we don’t have to bicker over the temperature of the air conditioner. I hope that she takes this suggestion well because I think it will save us money on our electrical bill in the end. Fingers crossed that this talk goes well, but we shall see!
