I always knew that I didn’t want to go to college.
College was never the answer for me.
I did not enjoy school when I was in high school. I hated studying and learning and having to do homework. The last thing I wanted was to spend more time in school where I would have to do more homework. My friends and I went to a couple of meetings with the technical school advisor. I decided to go to the technical school so I could learn about heating and AC repairs and installations. The HVAC certification program was supposed to last 15 months. I finished the classes in 12 months. I did not take a break during the summer. When I was finished with the classes, I immediately started looking for a job in the field. I thought it might take a long time to find something, because I didn’t have any experience. There were several HVAC repair companies that called me for an interview after I gave them my application. Most of them didn’t care about the fact that I didn’t have any experience. One business owner said that I was more likely to get the job because I didn’t have any bad habits from a different company yet. I had two job offers after going to the interviews. I decided to pick the job that was closest to my apartment so I didn’t have a long commute every morning and every afternoon. So far the job isn’t too bad. It’s pretty much exactly what I expected after spending all of that time in school.
