I appreciate our brother, but he has never had a lot of gumption.
I suppose he is the youngest of various sons, and quite spoiled, although I had hoped he would grow up after graduating from school. He should have come out of school prepared to start life and a job. Instead of starting a job, he moved back in with mom and Mom, and did nothing. Being the oldest son, I felt I should take him under our wing. I tried to talk to him about being more than a beach bum. He needed to find his path in life. I even tried to shock him by reminding that mom and Mom were in their sixties, and they wouldn’t always be there for him to sponge off. He looked at myself and others with wild esure and then nodded. He told myself and others that if mom and Mom didn’t want him, he would need to work. This sounded unbelievable until he said he would just get a task in our Heating and A/C business. I wasn’t sure I would be amenable to hiring our brother in our Heating and A/C business. Not only did he not have any gumption, but he was lazy. He said he had been going to Heating and A/C certification classes over the last six weeks. He was at the top of his class and he was planning on asking myself and others if I would provide him an apprenticeship. For the first time in years, I had some hope for our brother. That didn’t mean I was sure if I wanted to hire him for our Heating and A/C business.
