I work down at our local zoo and our heating system has been out for the past couple of weeks.
It’s not that much of a problem for some of our animals. Some of them, like the penguins and the polar bears, could care less whether or not we have a heating system. But then there are other animals, like the giraffes and the elephants, really need their heating systems to be working on full blast nearly all of the time. I guess if you’re used to living in a really hot climate like those animals are, you really have to have a great heating system. I’m not a specialist on those types of animals or anything like that, but I have learned a lot about different animals ever since I started working at the zoo a few years ago. I know that it’s not good for them to have their habitats messed with too much, especially when it comes to the temperatures that they are exposed to. You have to be really careful with these animals, too, because they are very valuable and wonders of creation. As someone who works at the zoo, I can tell you that we really care about these animals. That’s why we usually have the commercial HVAC company who handles the zoo come out and do regular maintenance work once a month or so. For some reason, the HVAC company hasn’t been out to fix the heating yet. Hopefully they will show up today or tomorrow, though. Some of these poor animals are freezing.
