It’s been almost a year now since I was gifted the smart thermostat that now runs the heating and cooling show in our home.
I was really surprised by this gift last Christmas but it has turned out to be such a great piece of HVAC technology.
And a wonderful addition to our home. I should have already had this kind of HVAC technology in my home. But I was a bit resistant to the smart thermostat technology when it first came out. But that has a lot to do with the fact that I don’t necessarily accept all new forms of technology. I just really don’t want to get too separated from the life that I have lead for the last 55 years. That’s the way I felt about smart thermostats back then but it sure has changed my opinion now. There is no more programming the digital thermostat in order to save on air conditioning cost. That’s primarily the biggest HVAC issue we face in this region. The summer months can just be brutal when it comes to paying for air conditioning. And I have to say that the smart thermostat did wonders in its first summer. Again, I was surprised to get that gift last Christmas but I was also sort of curious to see if the smart thermostat could live up to the hype. Well it absolutely did. I followed the instructions of the HVAC technician when he installed the smart thermostat. Which was essentially to set the parameters and then leave it alone so it could learn our patterns. Over the course of the entire four months of the summer, the smart thermostat saved us an additional nearly twenty percent than the best I could ever do. So much for being resistant to the smart thermostat huh?
