Living in the gym, dreaming of the UFC

I remember when I was 12 years old I saw my first pay per view from the UFC, the Ultimate Fighting Championship, and in that moment I knew what I wanted to do with my life.

I wanted to be a cage fighter, to train hard and fight for my pay in front of a roaring crowd. Even as a kid I knew that it would take years of hard work and determination to get to that point, so I started working on a plan the very same night. I would need to learn to fight, of course, but I would need to be in top physical condition before that, so I started making my own workout program. Years later I would have a whole squad of certified fitness experts and personal trainers to help with specialized regiments and workouts, but back in the beginning it was just me. No classes, no workout equipment, no gyms, just free range training from a lanky kid with a dream. I am still not in the UFC yet, but I do work hard for it, and teach MMA classes at the local gym to help encourage young people the way I wish I had been encouraged. I live at the gym, I breathe training and sleep exercise, and want to turn my body into a weapon. I figure if that doesn’t work out I will keep teaching classes and become a personal trainer myself, maybe coach a future MMA star. I have found that regardless of results I just love being in the gym.
