I didn’t realize how much faster my house cools down if I close the vents in the unused rooms.
Why am I cooling down those rooms when they are empty 90% of the time? So now what I do is keep the vents closed in the rooms that are not being used so that the rest of the house cools down faster during these hot summer days.
I wish I had purchased the zoned HVAC system when I had the chance but I was a bit too stingy with my money. The next time I get an HVAC system installed in this flat you can bet your bottom dollar that I am going to put in the zoned vents. I’m not sure how much more it costs but I bet it would pay for itself in a short period of time because the system runs a lot less when it operates by zoned vents and ducts. I think I will go to the HVAC company this week and ask them how much more it costs for zoned heating and cooling for a house. My friend works there a few times a week so maybe I’ll go in on a day he is working to ask him and to hang out a bit and chat. There is also a local business which sells HVAC equipment that has zoned systems in their shop so I could go there too if I wanted to find out sooner. Either way, I am going to get a zoned system regardless of how much more it costs to make life easier for me.
