My parents live in the southern part of the country as well and their part got hit by a major storm.
Thankfully, they were able to evacuate afternoons before the storm came.
They stayed with my sister until it was safe for them to return home. The part they lived in lost power for two weeks, so they did not return home right away after the storm. My sister went back with them to see the harm for himself to determine what my associate and I needed to do. Thankfully, the house was not flooded, but there was a lot of harm to the roof. Then one thing that my associate and I did not expect was that the HVAC component would be harmed as well. Upon return they tried to turn the component on as well as realized that it was not working. Upon trying to contact their local HVAC provider, they were told that it would take weeks to get the component fixed due to the amount of backlog that happened due to the storm. Apparently, numerous other random people were having the same issue of a broken HVAC unit. Based on what the HVAC provider said, numerous HVAC units got burned out due to the power surges, suffered saltwater harm plus harm from unusually high winds. Blessedly, numerous of the units were unable to be replaced. My parents also decided to return with my sister until they could figure out whether they needed a modern HVAC component or not. Thankfully, a couple of weeks later, the HVAC provider was able to maintain their component as well as they were able to return back to their home. Sadly, some of their neighbors weren’t so blessed, they had to replace their units completely.
