Tired of being the handyman

I am really tired of being the handyman of my house.

I appreciate the fact that my wife and kids depend on me to be the hero of the household, and get everything up and running again, but it is becoming a bit too much.

Let me give an example, in this month alone, I have fixed our oven which took 5 hours, our washing machine which took 6 hours, our broken window 2 hours and our vacuum cleaner which took 3 hours. That is 16 hours of time spent repairing things in just one month, I get this every month! I know we live in an old house, so things are bound to fail every so often, but this is just getting ridiculous. My final straw was with the air conditioning system, there’s no way I am going to spend a boatload of time attempting to fix that thing. Could I probably fix the a/c? Yes. Do I want to? No. Since I have very little knowledge of HVAC systems, I can already tell that it would take me forever to figure out what goes where, and what each button does and I really don’t want to spend all of that time wasted trying to figure out what could possibly be wrong with it. I already told my wife that I was in no mood to fix the air conditioning unit, and that I had planned on calling a HVAC professional out to come and fix it themselves. My wife wasn’t very happy about it, but I pointed out how much money we have saved because of me constantly repairing things, and that got her to be quiet and agree to the HVAC specialist. I am really going to enjoy sitting back and watching someone else repair something for once.
