Trying to get boyfriend to be physically active

I hope he will exert some energy while carrying around tools and fixing things up

I have tried all sorts of things to convince my boyfriend to workout. When we first started dating, he was a little overweight. At that time, he worked a more physical job so I wasn’t too worried about him getting chubby. Then he got promoted to a desk job where he now sits for eight hours everyday. He arrives home from work and simply wants to sit on the couch and watch movies. All day long, he sits and burns very few calories. I have noticed the difference in his body. His belly, legs and arms are soft. I have tried planning physical activities for us to do, such as hiking, kayaking, riding bikes and taking walks. He doesn’t really want to do any of those things. I recently signed us up for a couples fitness class. He only attended one time. He doesn’t seem to mind that he has gained about 15 pounds in the last year. There is no kind way to inform your boyfriend that he is getting fat and unattractive. I have changed what we eat for dinner, hoping to keep his weight under control. I’ve made sure there are no sweet treats, unhealthy snacks or anything carb heavy in the house. I make the leaniset, cleanest meals possible. Physical activity has been lacking. I need to figure out a way to get him physically active. I need something he might enjoy. I am also trying to convince him to work around the house on improvement projects. I hope he will exert some energy while carrying around tools and fixing things up. It would at least get him moving. He’d need to bend and squat and lift and climb up a ladder. I am willing to try anything at this point.
